It all started with our family dog – Sasha.
In 1998, we were faced with her arthritis diagnosis and the only treatment options available at the time were nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Whilst NSAIDs can be effective in short term alleviation of pain associated with osteoarthritis, they have a range of potential side effects associated with chronic use, which can impact kidney and gastrointestinal function. Given that Sasha was only 11 years old, we were concerned about the long-term use of NSAIDs to manage her arthritis.
We saw the moment as an opportunity to not only help Sasha, but also countless treasured pets suffering from osteoarthritis and embarked on a search for a safe and effective natural alternative.
With the help of contracted scientific facilities to research joint function, we created the unique, all-natural Sasha’s Blend™ from a blend of New Zealand green-lipped mussel, abalone and marine cartilage. After significant research and subsequent field trials, Sasha’s Blend became the first Australian-developed natural osteoarthritis treatment to achieve veterinary registration with the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) in 2001.
Since then, we have continued to expand, with an ongoing focus on research and development in the scientific field of joint health.
